Receive texts

Texts sent to a NumberBurn number appear in a web inbox. There is no app, and the numbers cannot send texts back.

The web inbox

  • Each text is stored and shown in your inbox, tagged with the NumberBurn number that received it, so you can tell which number a code was for.
  • You read texts in a browser. There is no mobile app.
  • There is no charge per text. Texts are covered by a fair use limit, described below.
  • You cannot reply. A NumberBurn number is receive-only: it sends no texts and places no calls.

Pictures and files

Picture and file messages (MMS) are stored when the media is up to 5 MB. Larger media is recorded in your inbox as "could not store", so you can see that something arrived even though the file was not kept. Texts and their files are deleted 30 days after they arrive. A text that is only STOP or a similar opt-out word is recorded as an opt-out and is never answered, because a NumberBurn number cannot send texts.

Fair use

Fair use is 500 texts per number per calendar month. Past that, the number is flagged for review. Texts are not dropped while a number is flagged.

Optional email copy

You can turn on an email copy for a number. When it is on, each text that arrives is also emailed to your account email. It is off by default, number by number.

Modes

Each number has a mode that decides what reaches you. "Texts only" keeps texts coming and stops calls. "Block" stops both. See calls and minutes.
