Area codes you can get a number in
A local-looking number gets answered. Pick the area code of the place your callers are in and give out a number that is not yours.
- $1 for a 7-day trial. When the 7 days end, your card is charged $9.99 for the first month, and the plan renews at $9.99 every month until you cancel.
- If the trial's allowance runs out first, use pauses and nothing more is charged until the 7 days end or you start the plan yourself.
- Extra minutes, numbers and burns go on the same monthly bill.
- Cancel any time with our ready-made cancel email. No reason needed. The plan runs to the end of the paid month, then your numbers are burned into a 30-day quarantine.
- Your first paid month can be refunded within 7 days of paying it. Write to hello@numberburn.com to ask.

What an area code is
The leading three digits of a US phone number are its area code. Phone companies created codes to steer calls toward a region, and now a code mostly signals the place where a number was first issued. Because people take their numbers along when they move, a code tells you about a place and not about the person holding the phone.
Your code or its neighbor
Pick the code of the place your callers live. If you are selling to buyers across town, a code from their side of the metro area reads as familiar. If you are a business with one home city, use that city. Each area-code page names nearby codes you could pick instead.

Questions
What area codes are offered?
NumberBurn offers 30 area codes across 4 time zones. Open a code page to see the place it belongs to and the nearby codes you could pick instead.
Can I pick a code for a city I do not live in?
Yes. The code is only the first three digits of the number. Choose the code of the place your callers are in.
Do you offer toll-free numbers?
No. NumberBurn offers geographic US area codes only, not toll-free numbers such as the 800 series.
Can I call or text from the number?
No. Numbers are receive-only. Calls ring your phone and texts land in a web inbox. The number cannot dial out, send texts or reach 911.
How much does a number cost?
Plans start at $9.99 a month with 5 numbers, and every plan begins with a 7-day trial. Each extra number on Basic is $1 a month.
